- Punch or Drill the Hole: First, punch or drill the correct size hole. Note: Do not deburr or chamfer the hole before installation, as removing material will affect the clinching process.
- Choose the Installation Side: Install the standoff into the prepared hole in the panel. It is preferable to install the fastener from the punch side of the panel.
- Position the Standoff: Place the standoff into the hole and ensure it is properly located in the anvil (clamping die of the clinching machine).
- Keep the Panel Level: Ensure the panel remains level during the clinching process to avoid misalignment.
- Apply Pressure: Apply a parallel squeezing force with the clinching machine until the hexagonal head of the standoff is flush with the panel surface.
